These are very contradicting concepts. I believe in destiny , I think it is too mighty to be fought or defied. Now, I am not saying that destiny cannot to altered, i guess that is where "will" comes into picture. We all work towards a particular intention , a goal for ourselves, I am talking about life's major objectives and not the minor goals we set and break on a daily basis. Most of us have these "things to do before we hit 25, 30.....", how many of us achieve everything/anything?
So which one of these is primary and which one is secondary? Does destiny have more power over our will or is it vice versa?
Which kind are you? Are you one of those who thinks he can achieve whatever he wishes come what may? or are you the other kind who believes that there is a greater power , something above our will something that can shake the foundations of our will?? you must've guessed it by now, I am somewhat on the later side.
Although , i do not understand the existence of will if i believe in destiny alone. Why were we given something like a will of our own when all we were supposed to do was follow destiny's orders.
.......................so
Any answers out there?

yeah, those are difficult - yet stupid creations of logic :-)... if one exists - the other can't - we just try to put one or the other - what suits our logic and explains the situation !
PS: Watch Matrix to better understand things !... I do love PC
matrix.. i thought was a man vs machines thing...not sure i remember everything from it though..
Short n sweet answer of who am I (anish)? is believer of path of Lord Buddha...(though not firm believer of GOD). " The Madhyam Marg" is one of the answers from my bag.. it seems that its kind of diplomatic opinion but only the right mixture of both the chemicals leads to successful chemistry for us.
One of the other ways to look at the perplexing situation is
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought.
If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him.
If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought,
Happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him. "--Lord Buddha again... here thoughts and implementation of thoughts are wining over the Destiny….But you never Know this victory turns out to be your Destiny…….=)
hi rajita,
i am a staunch believer of the fact that there i nothing like destiny around....as we say, wats life???its a matter of choice...whatever we do, there are multiple roads before us. now, does destiny come into picture to select one road for me? If i stand there, will the road move by itself?dnt think so :) we have to move and that is where our choice comes in. darshit is rite, see the matrix....our destiny depends on our choices...that means it is dependent..if its dependent, then its nt the ONLY destiny made out for us......take care
I will simplify the relation between will and destiny by a simple mathematical equation. Will+Sacrifice=Destiny.
The new added component is sacrifice. Both can be primary and both can be secondary depending on this added component. If your ability to sacrifice is greater your will, will certainly be your destiny.
We all have our own will and the strength of it is tested every moment in our life. Those tests are designed particularly to test your will. The moment we fail those tests we tend to see this difference between will and destiny.
Coming back to sacrifice, its a saying that "every great achievement comes with huge sacrifice" most of us are just not willing to make that sacrifice mostly due to the circumstances that are out of our control and probably thats the reason why will doesn't turn into destiny.
So i still don't know what kind i am, but i do believe that the only thing that can shake the foundations of our will is the ability to sacrifice.
